 WSNC President Dan Fulton West Side Nut Club President Dan Fulton got down to business Tuesday January 22. The first meeting of the year seen Bill Evans, Dan Lewis, Alan Schaffstein, Mark Stansberry and Fulton installed. So this was a regular WSNC business meeting with a full agenda.
Starting of the meeting Fulton, on the request from John Eichoff, was that a signup sheet was availbe for name badges for members. Next up was a request from Danny Gries for all those that are interested in playing the golf league contact him. The meeting quickly shifted to the 2008 budget where Fulton detailed items and gave reasons why their budgeted funds may have been changed. The 2008 budget was then approved.  Silvers Lake One of the items in the budget was the special project. This year Fulton has selected as the special project to be Silver's Lake. Plans are to rip rap portions of the bank near Helfrich Golf Course that are sliding into the lake. The plans also calls to clean out brush so more people can use it for fishing and increase the overall beauty of the lake.Another main point discussed in the budget was the addition of barricade trailors. The old T's and Crackers trailor will be converted to a barricade trailor as well as the addition of another trailor to also be used as a barricade trailor. Next came the auctioning off of some USI parking passes that will allow the winning bidder to park directly next to PAC Arena during the next eight USI home basketball games. After some intense bidding between Bob Reed and Carl Minton, Minton delivered the knock out blow to Reed when he increased the bid to $100. Steve Bailey and Bernie Wedding puchased USI Varsity Club passes for the rest of the season for $20. All proceeds will benefit the USI Scholarship Fund. Five members were announced as having recieved honorable lifetime membership in the West Side Nut Club. The new honorable lifetime members are Mel Singer, Mel Garvin, Les Nunn, Steve Hamer, Harold Davids, and Past President Marvin Hollerbach. Congratulations gentlemen on a well deserved honor.
