West Side Nut Club Founder's Day Donations Top $202,000

The West Side Nut Club held their annual Founder's Day Tuesday May 6, 2008. The evening consisted of honoring its members for their 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50 years of service. The new West Side Nut Club members were also introduced
After the introductions Founder's Day Chairman Doug DeMoss turned the stage over to the West Side Nut Club Directors for presentation of the 2008 noteworthy contributions. Treasurer Alan Schaffstein presented checks to:
Goodwill Family Center ($2000) Evansville Rescue Mission ($2500) Burdette Park Day Camp ($2500) CJ's Bus ($2500) Historic New Harmony ($2500) Holly's House ($2736.20)
Schaffstein then gave the microphone to Secretary Dan Lewis who presented checks to:
Evansville ARC ($3000) West Branch Library ($3000) Easter Seals ($3000) Mesker Park Zoo ($3300) WNIN-TV ($3450)
Vice President Bill Evans had his turn to present checks to the following organizations:
Wish Upon A Star ($4000) CASA ($4000) Howell Wetlands ($4900) Boys & Girls Club ($5000) USI ($6000)
West Side Nut Club President Dan Fulton then presented some pretty hefty checks to:
Evansville High Schools ($14000) Evansville West and Parochial and Lutheran Grade Schools ($32000) Evansville West Public Grade Schools (32000) Mater Dei High School ($22000) Reitz High School ($22000).
This year's special project in which members of the club spent a rainy Saturday cleaning up Silver's Lake which borders Helfrich Hills Golf Course. The labor of the members and materials used was estimated at $30000. The total donation to the community just last night was $202386.20.
In the final order of business for the evening Alan Schaffstein was presented the "Vote No" award.
The West Side Nut Club also on average donates $5000-$7000 per bi-monthly meeting as well. The money the West Side Nut Club donates is a direct result of the Annual Fall Festival which takes place every year on the first full week in October. None of this is possible with out the community and it's support and thw West Side Nut Club would like to say "Thank You" to the community.
