WSNC Spruces Up Howell Golf Courses For 2010 Spring Project PDF Print E-mail

DSC_0035smPostponed a week the 2010 Spring Project started at 7:00 AM on Saturday May 8th at Howell Park.  Roughly 50 Nut Clubbers pitched in to beautify Howell Park’s par 3 and miniature golf courses.  Project chairman Bob Reed said that they were able to put a new roof on the rear section of the main building and patched a couple sections of the front portion, painted the entire building, replace the old signs with new ones, painted all of the curbing on the miniature golf course, rebuilt the wishing well, and put a new roof on a miniature fire house , added 192 feet of fence back on the Soccer field to prevent cars from getting on the field , and replaced two backstops on two of the holes with vinyl fencing, and tore out the old lattice fence that was there.

Charlie Stocker will be re-planting all of the flower boxes on the course in the next week or so. Reed goes on to say  “this project meant more to the Par 3 Booster Club than we will ever know. This club is comprised of mainly Senior Citizens who are struggling to keep up with the upkeep and maintenance of the grounds. It also means a lot to the folks who use the facility. With the new Swimming facility being built last year, this looked pretty shabby right next door. The work we did will help maintain this area for several years to come. I'd say this, along with our help to Riding Hope on their new roof, were two very worth while projects for this year. Many kids in our area will benefit from what we did this year.” President Dan Lewis added “Our membership can feel proud of the work at this years Howell Park project. Many years ahead, a feeling of pride will be there from time to time as families will still be enjoying the benefits from this year’s project.”
